MLB Celebrates John Mayberry Jr's Walkoff Winner with Some Carly Rae Jepsen

After multiple attempts by the Phillies to walk it off in the 9th and 10th innings of Thursday night's series finale with the Cincinnati Reds proved futile, John Mayberry Jr. finally delivered in the 11th to send everyone home from Citizens Bank Park happy. Well, perhaps those hoping to see a Wilson Valdez relief appearance weren't thrilled. But the baseball gods can't please everyone.

And what better way to celebrate a weak dribbler through the hole to left field to win it than to channel the great Carly Rae Jepsen!

Because his name sounds like the word "maybe!"

I prefered Charlie Manuel's take on the evening in his postgame presser:

"Feel like I've been in a fight and I lost. [laughs] I feel drained. Really. I kept waiting for somebody to come home."
