Phillies in the late afternoon on FOX: Arroyo vs. Kendrick

Share

Staff ace Kyle Kendrick (4-1, 2.47) takes on Reds right-hander Bronson Arroyo (3-4, 3.76) this afternoon in a 4:05 start time with the game getting the national FOX treatment.

The Fightins will look to keep up their tradition of pounding the Reds at Citizens Bank Park. According to Elias, The Reds are now 11-23 (.324) all-time at Citizens Bank Park, which is their 2nd-lowest winning percentage at any venue where they have played at least 20 games. Pretty solid defending of the home turf.

Kendrick is coming off a real good start out in Arizona where he did not get a decision despite tossing 7.0 strong and allowing only 2 runs on six hits. The Phils won that one in extras. His numbers against the Reds over his last three starts against them have been fantastic: Has allowed just 3 ER in his last 3 starts combined vs CIN (0-1, 1.37 ERA, 19.2 IP).

KK hasn't allowed a walk in his last 20 innings overall dating back to May 2nd.

The Phillies have had quite a bit of success against Arroyo over the years, with the right-hander managing only a 3-7 record against the Fightins to the tune of a 6.0 ERA. It gets even worse for him when he pitches at CBP, where the Phils knocked him around for a .348 average and 9.60 ERA over three starts.
