As expected, the Phillies placed Placido Polanco on the DL this afternoon with a sports hernia which wasn't the best news for Phillies fans to hear, but the move made in conjunction with it made one young guy's dream come true.

The Phillies also announced that they've called up relief pitcher Michael Schwimer from the IronPigs who has certainly earned his first big league opportunity. Schwimer has been fantastic this season for Lehigh Valley with nine relief wins, a 1.88 ERA with 10 saves in 46 appearances. Beerleaguer points out right-handers are hitting a paltry .068 against him.

Schwimer's day has been made and a dream of his has now come true. Not only did the Phillies add a bullpen arm this afternoon, they also added another Twitter user. You can follow Schwimmer @mschwimer where he tweeted earlier today that, "The first part of my life dream has come true. I cant wait!!!!"

The Phils also placed Joe Blanton on the 60-day DL to clear space on the 40-man roster. We're not as sure as to what Blanton was dreaming about this morning.
