The Clock Is Ticking: Deadline Looms as Phils Face Lincecum

Share

With the deadline winding down, we thought we'd take a look at the rumblings out there this afternoon prior to Kyle Kendrick and the Phillies take on Tim Lincecum and the Giants. San Fran will have Carlos Beltran in the lineup this evening, so that's some added excited to watch for as well.

To the mill!

Jim Salisbury has the latest, and says that Ruben Amaro Jr. is being very aggresive, with his wish list looking like this: 1.) Pence, 2.) Carlos Quentin, and 3.) Mike Adams. In that order.

“Ruben is trying to win a World Series this year,” a person with
knowledge of the Phillies’ plan said. “He’s being very aggressive trying
to get something done.”

Sully once again notes the Phils would be willing to part with Dom Brown in the right deal.

Jayson Stark says the interest in Hunter Pence has exploded since Carlos Beltran was traded to the Giants. He notes the Phillies, Braves, Reds, and Red Sox are all mentioned.

Buster Olney says that, "The Phillies' hope that Houston is willing to move Hunter Pence seems to be holding up PHI's conversations with SD about Adams/Ludwick."

Jon Heyman says the Phillies still seek an outfielder and that their top choices are 1.) Pence and 2.) Carlos Quentin. Heyman adds that he's hearing "Dom Brown may not be untouchable."

First pitch tonight scheduled for 7:05. We'll try and update this post throughout the evening as new rumors come about.

Also, try and remember this is just a game, kids!
