The 2012 Philadelphia Phillies will take the field on Wednesday to compete against the Florida State University Seminoles in their first remotely real baseball action of the season. Yes, Phillies fans are a bunch of fiends this time of year, getting uber excited at every new "milestone" reached: photos of grass and palm trees! bats and gloves and uniforms! There's ROY HALLADAY! An exhibition game will be played!

And today we see Charlie Manuel's first lineup card of the season.

Chase Utley and Placido Polanco will not start against FSU tomorrow and likely won't see any action as part of the plan to ease them in and allow them to stay as fresh as possible throughout the long season. The first lineup:

1. Jimmy Rollins SS
2. Juan Pierre DH
3. Shane Victorino CF
4. Hunter Pence RF
5. Ty Wigginton 3B
6. Dom Brown LF
7. John Mayberry Jr. 1B
8. Michael Martinez 2B
9. Tuffy Gosewisch C

Phillies lineup for Wed vs. FSU: Rollins ss, Pierre dh, Vic cf, Pence rf, Wigg 3b, Brown lf, Mayberry 1b, Martinez 2b, Gosewisch c

Charlie Manuel said Chase Utley and Placido Polanco won't play. Part of Phillies' plan to take things easy on them this spring.
