The World Isn't Ending Because Cliff Lee Is Here to Stop It

Share

Hey, did you hear? The Philadelphia Phillies have played seven games and the world is coming to an end. Thankfully, Cliff Lee is here today to save us all from destruction.

Lee (1-0, 0.00) will take on New York Mets right-hander Dillon Gee (0-1, 1.42) on a night with the temperature somewhat resembling the famed "hitting weather." Quite the different climate from Lee's fantastic first outing down in Atlanta last week. Cliff Lee don't worry about the weather.

Here are some fun Lee notes to get you exited about this evening:

Lee has pitched at least 6.0 innings and issued 1 walk or none in each of his last 18 starts (7/04/12-current), which is a new modern-era major league record (since 1900) ... Christy Mathewson (1908) and Greg Maddux (1997) each made 14 straight starts in which they went 6.0+ with

Lee's been real good against the Mets: 4-1, 2.09 in 8 career starts. He's also pitched 8.0 innings and earned the win in each of his last two starts against the Mets in 2012.

7:05 start per usual. You can still probably get a cheap ticket and get your wiener on. For real, it's like 80 degrees right now. Perfect night for some baseball. Get down here.

Get a win tonight from Lee and then hope from a step-up performance from Kendrick tomorrow and things don't seem so bleak.
