It's currently in the mid 40's here in Philadelphia. It could get as balmy as 50 or 51 by first pitch around 1:05 pm this afternoon. But how many people really want to go sit in the cold to watch a team that couldn't put up a single run on the Braves last night and have dropped two in a row?
Freddy Galvis looked toasty last night though, didn't he?
As you may have noticed, there have been plenty of open blue seats at the Phillies games so far this season. The folks over at The Good Phight have calculated attendance this season to be down a little over 20% more than the comparable home games in 2013. If that number were to persist throughout the season, the organization would lose something in the $24 million range, assuming a whole bunch of assumptions they make. It could be worse too.
What's the point of this post? Just to remind you it's cold out there and there are probably plenty of good seats available at Citizens Bank Park. But please dress warm if you do head down there.
And it is the first Business Person Special, so I suppose some fans may have had plans to ditch work long before they saw the weather forecast. A crappy and cold Phillies game at CBP still beats work 92% of the time.
It's A.J. Burnett (0-1, 3.94) vs. Alex Wood (2-1, 1.89) on the hill this afternoon as the Phils attempt to avoid the abbreviated 3-game sweep.
