The accompanying photo recaps this game better than I or any member of the media ever could. Giambi circled the bases three times Thursday night, including two trips around Kyle Kendrick, driving in all seven of Colorado's runs on bombs. By the time a downpour started in the third, all Phillies fans could hope was the game would get called, but the rain stopped, and the Rockies cruised to a 7-1 final.
Giambi raised his batting average .079 points with tonight's outbreak, now batting a whopping .194. Kendrick, who I happen to like so you can shut your mouths, dropped to 3-3 for the season, and saw his ERA balloon from 1.66 to 3.28. He started in place of Joe Blanton, whose elbow continues to be problematic.
So the offense struggled again, but it's hard when the scheduled starter is scratched 20 minutes before gametime, then one player on the opposing team decides to mash like it's 2001.
