Jamie Moyer, who is in camp with Colorado Rockies, tossed his first batting practice session the other day. The good news is that his left arm remains attached to his body.

The ageless one is attempting to come back from Tommy John surgey. The 49-year-old made his big league debut in 1986 and in 2012, he's hoping to gut and guile his way into the Rockies' starting rotation.

My favorite part of Patrick Saunders' Denver Post blog detailing Moyer's first day facing live hitters in purple and black is the following quote:

"I don’t think I threw the way I wanted to throw,” Moyer said, adding that he was “a little amped up.”

I like to think that "amped up" meant he touched 74-75 MPH on the gun. If nothing else though, the fact that he's in a big league camp is pretty remarkable. I know I always enjoyed watching him make young, aggressive hitters flail at the slop (and I say that lovingly) he tossed up there.

Does anyone else think of this guy when they see Jamie Moyer?
