Winter Classic Rink Did a Number on Citizens Bank Park Grass

Almost every aspect of the week-long festivities revolving around the 2012 Winter Classic at Citizens Bank Park were a huge success, aside from the Rangers winning the big game of course.

The Alumni Game was goosebump-inducing, the high school games gave young kids a chance to show their stuff on a big stage, the Phantoms provided an overtime thriller, and even the public open skates provided families with a unique photo opp.

That said, take a look at how banged up the CBP grass is after the rink was finally dismantled. The Phillies grounds crew is going to have their hands full getting the lucious grass ready for opening day in just two and a half months.

UPDATE: According to Phillies beat writer Ryan Lawrence, the grass will be totally replaced before the season starts. The more you know.

Expect Phillies.com to start offering authentic, freeze-dried sod from the exact spot Ryan Howard's Achilles blew up in their store before month's end.
