The St. Louis Cardinals pushed their lead over Philadelphia in the race for the second wild card spot back to four games on Tuesday night by doing what the Phillies had so much trouble accomplishing over the weekend down in Houston. The Cards defeated the Astros last night by a final of 4-1 behind seven scoreless innings of work from Kyle Lohse.

Meanwhile in Pittsburgh, the Brewers continued to look like the team with the best chance of making a serious run at the Cardinals by beating the dropping Pirates 6-0. The Brew Crew were led by Ryan Braun's two hits and three stolen bases. Yovani Gallardo gave up just two hits in 6.2 innings of work to win his eighth straight decision.
