Brett Brown: Injuries could force style change vs. Wizards

The Sixers and Wizards each feature two legitimate big men, but they could end up playing small Friday night.

Nene (calf) and Kris Humphries (knee) are out for the Wizards, as is Richaun Holmes (ankle) for the Sixers. Without Nene, the Wizards' 6-foot-11 anchor in the middle, Sixers head coach Brett Brown thinks the style of play will be affected.

"I think that with Nene out, when they start looking at their healthy list and how they're going to play it, you're probably going to see as much as small ball, that mobile four man," said Brown before Friday's game at the Verizon Center in Washington.

Should the game go the opposite way, Brown has a plan in place off the bench in Holmes' absence.

"You're probably going to see Carl come in if it ends up more of a big-ball game," he said.

What Brown is certain of, regardless of who plays, he wants to get out and run against the Wizards, who boast one of the fastest players in the NBA in point guard John Wall.

"It was asked a lot the last time we played Golden State, 'Are you going to jump into this?' And yes, we are," Brown said. "We will again tonight. It's just how we're trying to grow our program with trying to pressure and, I hope one day, defense and play with speed. I think that's the future of our sport and that's how I see our offensive side of the ball. We want to embrace it. We too want to get up and down."
