Carter-Williams, Noel recall their last game together

In anticipation of reuniting on the court in the Sixers' matchup against the Dallas Mavericks Thursday night, Michael Carter-Williams and Nerlens Noel have been reminiscing about playing AAU basketball for BABC, Boston Amateur Basketball Club. It was the last time they made the highlight reel together.

"He was a freshman and I was a junior," said Carter-Williams, who is set for his season debut on Thursday. "He was around the same height [as now]. He moved, he was like a deer. One game he had 19 blocks. I had 47 points, and he had, yes, 19 blocks."

Noel corrected Carter-Williams saying the number was 22 for his blocks and 35 for Carter-Williams' points.

It could be revisionist history on both players' part.

The closest numbers we found for the BABC teammates lighting it up in the same game was in 2010 at the Nike Elite Youth Basketball Finals. Carter-Williams scored 44 points in the first of two games, played on the first day of the tournament, and he had 62 points total at the conclusion of the second game. MCW made an astounding 30 of 35 free throw attempts on his way to those 62 points.

Noel swatted 16 shots over the course of the same two games.

"I didn't have to play any defense," Carter-Williams said. "I was helping pad his block numbers."

Here are the highlights of MCW’s performance, and don’t miss the hug after the last play on the reel.
