A trade reported Friday became official Saturday when the Sixers dealt Thaddeus Young to the Timberwolves in a three-team deal involving Kevin Love and Andrew Wiggins.
In exchange for Young, the Sixers received guard Alexey Shved and forward Luc Mbah a Moute from Minnesota and Miami's protected first-round pick from Cleveland. The pick will be top-10 protected in 2015 and 2016 and unprotected in 2017.
Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune and Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports on Friday initially reported the trade, which CSNPhilly.com's John Gonzalez also confirmed (see story).
The Cavaliers — big winners in the trade — received Love from Minnesota, and the Timberwolves acquired Wiggins, the No. 1 overall pick in this summer's draft, and Anthony Bennett, the top selection from the year before.
Both Shved ($3.2 million) and Mbah a Moute ($4.4 million) join the Sixers with expiring contracts.
Shved, 25, has averaged 6.5 points and 2.5 assists in two seasons with Minnesota. Mbah a Moute, 27, averaged career lows in points (3.5), rebounds (2.3) and assists (0.6) between Sacramento and Minnesota last season.
Young, the 12th pick in the 2007 draft, put up career highs in points (17.9), assists (2.3) and steals (2.1) last year in his seventh season with the Sixers.
