The Sixers were hoping to win their second in a row when they hosted the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night.

They forced overtime before running out of steam in a 104-95 loss to the Bulls at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Sixers shot just 34.6 percent and 26.8 percent from three-point range. They also missed 13 free throws.

The Bulls were without Derrick Rose, Jimmy Butler, Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson because of various injuries.

Chicago improved to 40-26 with the win, while the Sixers fell to 14-50.

Turning point
Aaron Brooks made a three-pointer while nearly falling out of bounds with 33.0 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 92. Brooks kept it going with seven points in the extra session to lift the Bulls to victory.

Brooks finished the game with 31 points on 12 for 20 shooting to go along with five assists and four rebounds.

Follow the leader
Pau Gasol had 27 points and 16 rebounds to record his league-high 44th double-double.

Nikola Mirotic had 16 points and 12 boards.

Ish Smith led the Sixers in scoring with 23 points. He also had six assists.

Isaiah Canaan did not start because he had been dealing with an upper-respiratory infection. Still, the scoring point guard played 30 minutes and managed 20 points on 7 of 15 shooting.

Nerlens Noel had eight points, 15 rebounds, four steals and two blocks.

In the previous 16 games, the Sixers averaged 10.8 made three-pointers on 37.1 percent shooting. That's a sharp improvement from the season's first 47 games, when those numbers were 7.0 and 29.8, respectively.

Against Chicago, the Sixers were 11 for 41 from behind the arc.

Thomas Robinson managed seven points and 13 rebounds in an 18-minute run. Since joining the Sixers, Robinson's numbers averaged out per 36 minutes are 18.5 points and 15.7 rebounds.

What's next?
The Sixers will host the Sacramento Kings on Friday night. The Kings recorded a 113-106 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday to snap a four-game skid.

DeMarcus Cousins leads the Kings with 23.4 points and 12.1 rebounds.

Sacramento is not strong defensively. They give up an average of 105.1 points a night and their opponents' field goal percentage ranks in the NBA's bottom 10.
