ATLANTA -- The Sixers were solid defensively on Wednesday until the fourth quarter when the Atlanta Hawks pulled away for the 95-79 win.

The loss prevented the Sixers from getting their first winning streak of the season and dropped their record to 2-19. Meanwhile, the Hawks won for the eighth straight time.

Turning point
With 6:51 remaining in the game, Kyle Korver made his fifth three-pointer of the night to give Atlanta a 17-point lead at 79-62.

Up to that point, the Sixers had kept the score within striking distance.

Follow the leader
Korver was 6 for 11 from the field for 17 points. The NBA’s top three-point shooter was also 5 for 7 from behind the arc.

Paul Millsap scored 17 points and Demarre Carroll finished with 14.

Michael Carter-Williams flirted with a triple-double. He had eight points, nine assists and 10 rebounds.

Stat-egic
For a third time this season, the Sixers had at least 10 blocks in a game. Nerlens Noel had three, Carter-Williams had two and K.J. McDaniels had two.

Take a bow
Jerami Grant played a season-high 16 minutes. He used that time to score a season-high 10 points on 5 of 7 shooting.

What’s next?
The Sixers play at Brooklyn on Friday night. The two teams are reportedly expected to finalize a deal that would have the Sixers acquire Andrei Kirilenko and draft picks for Brandon Davies and cash before the game gets underway (see story).
