BOX SCORE

The Knicks may be the NBA’s worst, but not on Wednesday night.

The Sixers suffered a 98-91 loss to the Knicks at the Wells Fargo Center. This was the third consecutive defeat for the Sixers and dropped their record to 8-34.

The win was the Knicks second straight after dropping 16 in a row and moved their record to 7-36.

Turning point
With the Sixers threatening in the fourth quarter, local favorite Langston Galloway delivered the knockout blow.

Galloway, who played four years at St. Joe's, grabbed an offensive rebound and pulled up for a baseline three-pointer with 15.3 seconds remaining to push the Knicks’ lead to 96-89.

Follow the leader
Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 27 points and 11 rebounds. He was 8 for 24 from the floor.

Jose Calderon had 15 points, five rebounds and seven assists.

For the 14th time this season, Michael Carter-Williams led the Sixers in scoring with 27 points. He shot 10 for 26. He added six rebounds, seven assists and five steals.

Henry Sims had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Robert Covington had 17 points, but he also made a costly turnover that led to Galloway's game-sealing three-pointer.

Stat-egic
The Knicks have had an interesting record from a mathematical standpoint. Consider New York the "squared” Knicks.

The Knicks’ record this season, at some point, was each of the following; 2-4, 3-9, 4-16, 5-25, and they entered Wednesday's contest 6-36. If they lose the next 13 games, the pattern will continue with a 7-49 record.

Take a bow
Galloway was playing in his sixth NBA game, making his second start. He finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Health check
The Sixers did not have the services of Nerlens Noel, who came to the arena feeling sick before being immediately sent home by the team.

Luc Mbah a Moute did not play (left knee contusion) nor did Tony Wroten, who flew to California on Wednesday morning to see a knee specialist.

What's next?
The Sixers host the Toronto Raptors on Friday. Toronto has the reigning Eastern Conference Player of the Month in Philadelphia native, Kyle Lowry. The veteran point guard is averaging 19.8 points and 7.6 assists a game on a Raptors team that leads the Atlantic Division by 10 games.

Toronto has beaten the Sixers in the first two games of the four-game series by a combined 48 points. Both games were played at Air Canada Centre.
