On fan appreciation night, a certain segment of Sixers supporters got exactly what they were looking for from the team.

The Sixers put forth a strong effort only to have let the Lakers' Jordan Clarkson sneak baseline for an easy layup in the final second of overtime in a 113-111 loss a the Wells Fargo Center on Monday night.

The win improved the Lakers to 20-53 for the season and moved them closer to being out of NBA's bottom five teams, which is an actual boost for the Sixers because they hold the Lakers' top-five protected first-round pick in the upcoming draft.

The Sixers' record dropped to 18-57 with the loss.

Turning point
Clarkson made his way to the baseline after Wayne Ellington had picked up his dribble in the final seconds of overtime. Despite a couple of Sixers hounding Ellington, the former Episcopal Academy great spotted Clarkson underneath the basket for the game-winning layup with 0.7 seconds remaining.

Follow the leader
Clarkson led all scorers with 26 points and he also handed out 11 assists.

Ellington had 20 points. He was 4 for 6 from three-point range.

Nerlens Noel led the Sixers with 19 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block. He tied the game at 111 with a lefty hook with 12.0 seconds remaining in overtime.

Stat-egic
Ish Smith played 32 minutes. He had 17 points, three assists and zero turnovers.

Take a bow
Glenn Robinson III played a career-high 25 minutes. He finished the game with eight points and six rebounds, both career highs as well.

Thomas Robinson did not play Sunday against the Cavaliers, but he returned to action against the Lakers and scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds in 24 minutes.

What's next?
The Sixers travel to Washington DC for a third and final meeting against the Wizards. Washington is currently the fifth seed in the East with a 41-33 record.

John Wall leads the team in scoring (17.7) and assists (9.8.) In the previous two meetings, Marcin Gortat averaged 14.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks.

Noel's statistics are comparable to the Wizards' center. Noel is averaging 12.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks against the Wizards this season.
