The Sixers played the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday in the first of two preseason games at the Wells Fargo Center this month, picking up a 106-92 win. The win evened their preseason record at 1-1.

Turning point
The Sixers scored 38 second-quarter points, taking a 12-point lead into the locker room at halftime. The Sixers made 57.7 percent of their shots in the quarter while holding Charlotte to 36.4 percent shooting.

Follow the leader
Tony Wroten led the Sixers with 19 points Monday in Boston. Against the Hornets, Wroten had the hot hand again.

He was 6 for 10 from the floor to finish with 15 points. He added seven assists and six rebounds in the win.

Nerlens Noel had a much-improved performance than his preseason debut. Noel scored 10 points, grabbed nine rebounds, blocked three shots and had three assists.

Gary Neal led Charlotte in scoring with 14 points off the bench.

Stat-egic
The Sixers committed only 11 turnovers, 16 fewer than the 27 giveaways they had against the Celtics.

They also scored 25 fastbreak points and allowed Charlotte just 10 points in transition.

Take a bow
Brandon Davies played eight first-half minutes. He was 3 for 4 from the field and 4 for 4 at the foul line for 11 points. Davies tacked on a couple of free throws in the fourth quarter to finish with 13 points.

Casper Ware delighted the fans when he made a 60-foot heave as the buzzer sounded to end the third quarter. Ware scored 14 points, aided by him drilling 9 of 10 attempts at the foul line.

Elliot Williams came off the bench and made 3 for 4 from behind the arc. He ended the game with 12 points.

Health check
Hollis Thompson was hit in the left eye and suffered a corneal abrasion. He left the game for the night after playing just four minutes and scoring two points.

What's next?
The Sixers will see an old friend when they play at Minnesota Friday night.

Thaddeus Young played his first seven NBA seasons with the Sixers before being traded to the Timberwolves in August as part of a three-team deal that brought Alexey Shved, Luc Mbah a Moute and the Cavaliers’ 2015 first-round draft pick to Philadelphia.

In addition to Young, the Sixers will face the 2014 No. 1 overall pick, Andrew Wiggins.
