NBA trade deadline roundup: Suns deal Goran Dragic

The 76ers weren't the only team making moves at the NBA trade deadline. Here is a full breakdown of the other deals around the league.

Suns deal disgruntled Goran Dragic to Miami
MIAMI — Goran Dragic wanted a new home, and the Miami Heat wanted a new guard.

On trade deadline day, they were a perfect match.

The Heat swung a deal to acquire Dragic - a third-team All-NBA player last season - from the Phoenix Suns on Thursday, a person with knowledge of the trade told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the NBA's standard trade call had not yet taken place to make the deal official.

The person said Miami sent Norris Cole, Shawne Williams, Danny Granger and Justin Hamilton to the Suns, who were busy moving at least some of those players to New Orleans before the 3 p.m. trade deadline arrived.

Cole, who was on Miami's 2012 and 2013 NBA title teams and went to the NBA Finals in each of his first three pro seasons, announced on Twitter that he was heading to the Pelicans.

"Thank you (at)MiamiHEAT HeatNation for the opportunity! Many Great memories! 2 Championships in 3yrs!" wrote Cole, who began this season as Miami's starter at the point.

Cole won't have to pack in a hurry: New Orleans visits Miami on Saturday.

Zoran Dragic, Goran's brother, was also coming to Miami from Phoenix, the person said, adding that the Heat were also including two first-round draft picks - one from 2017 and the other from 2021 to close the deal.

Kings swap Ramon Sessions for Andre Miller
The Sacramento Kings have agreed to trade guard Ramon Sessions to the Washington Wizards for Andre Miller, a person with knowledge of the deal said Thursday.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the teams have not announced the move, which comes just before Thursday's 3 p.m. EST trade deadline. Yahoo Sports first reported the deal.

The trade gives each team and player exactly what they've wanted.

Miller will be reunited with new Kings coach George Karl. The two had a close relationship in Denver, where Miller enjoyed some of his best seasons.

The Kings (18-34) will lean on Miller to provide veteran leadership on a team that has sorely lacked it.

Miller, who turns 39 in March, is averaging 3.6 points and 2.8 assists in 12.4 minutes. The guard played for Karl from 2003-07 and 2011-13 with the Nuggets.

The Wizards receive a viable, veteran backup they hope can rediscover his past form for the playoff push.

The 28-year-old Sessions is averaging 5.4 points and 2.7 assists in 17.8 minutes per game. He averaged 12.3 points and 4.1 assists in 26.7 minutes with Charlotte and Milwaukee last season.

Trail Blazers acquire Arron Afflalo from Nuggets
DENVER — Just like that, Arron Afflalo's in the thick of a playoff chase again.

Afflalo's second stint in Denver came to an end Thursday, with the veteran guard going to the Portland Trail Blazers in a five-player deal. The Nuggets also included backup forward Alonzo Gee in the trade. General manager Tim Connelly said that in return, Denver received Thomas Robinson, Victor Claver, Will Barton and a lottery-protected first-round pick in 2016.

Afflalo certainly landed in a good place -- a Portland squad out to a big lead in the Northwest Division.

"That's great for him," Nuggets coach Brian Shaw said before the team left for Milwaukee for their game Friday night.

Yahoo! Sports was first to report the trade.

With Afflalo, the Blazers acquired a shooter who can come in off the bench to spell Wesley Matthews.

Afflalo is averaging 14.5 points this season, but has struggled at times with his shooting touch. He's hitting just under 43 percent from the floor, which would be his worst since his rookie season in 2007-08.

Thunder ship Reggie Jackson to Detroit
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma City Thunder have traded guard Reggie Jackson to the Detroit Pistons.

Jackson's agent, Aaron Mintz, confirmed the move Thursday. It was not immediately clear who the Thunder would get in return.

Jackson helped the Thunder keep it together last season while Russell Westbrook was injured and his value skyrocketed. This season, Jackson averaged 20.2 points and 7.7 assists per game in 13 starts while Westbrook and Kevin Durant were out with injuries.

Jackson garnered national attention during last year's playoffs, when he scored 32 points in a first-round playoff win over Memphis. He has said for months that he wants to be a starter, something that wouldn't happen in Oklahoma City with Westbrook, the MVP of the All-Star Game, playing the same position.

Knicks send Pablo Prigioni to Houston
NEW YORK — A person with knowledge of the deal says the New York Knicks have traded guard Pablo Prigioni to the Houston Rockets for guard Alexey Shved and two second-round picks.

The person says the Knicks will get one of the picks in 2017 and the other in 2019. The person spoke to The Associated Press Thursday on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been announced.

Prigioni averaged 4.7 points in 43 games this season, sitting out some as the Knicks turned to younger players. His departure leaves Carmelo Anthony as the only player left from New York's 2013 Atlantic Division championship team.

The deal helps the Knicks continue shedding future salary, as Prigioni's $1.7 million for next season is partially guaranteed. Shved's contract expires after this season.

Kevin Garnett returns to Timberwolves
MINNEAPOLIS — Kevin Garnett is coming back to the place it all began.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are sending forward Thaddeus Young to the Brooklyn Nets for Garnett, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press. The person spoke Thursday on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been officially announced.

Garnett spent his first 12 seasons in Minnesota. He guided the Timberwolves to the only eight playoff appearances in franchise history and won the MVP while leading them to the Western Conference finals in 2004.

After winning a title in Boston, Garnett is nearing the end of a brilliant career and now could finish it in front of a crowd that continues to adore him.

"Whatever he says, we're going to listen and do it," Wolves guard Ricky Rubio said. "He's going to have the voice in the locker room and we're going to learn a lot from him. I think it's great."

Garnett had to waive a no-trade clause to allow the deal to go through.

Tayshaun Prince headed back to Pistons
Tayshaun Prince is returning to the Pistons after Detroit acquired the veteran forward in a trade with Boston.

The Pistons confirmed the trade Thursday night. The Celtics received forward Jonas Jerebko and guard Gigi Datome.

"Tayshaun Prince is certainly well known to fans in Detroit and we're pleased to welcome him back," Pistons President Stan Van Gundy said in a statement. "He fills a position of need for us at small forward with his offensive and defensive versatility. We thank both Jonas and Gigi for their hard work and wish them well going forward."

Prince was part of Detroit's championship team in 2004 and remained with the Pistons until 2013, when he was traded to Memphis. The Grizzlies dealt him to Boston last month, and now the 34-year-old returns to the franchise that drafted him in the first round in 2002. Prince is averaging 7.6 points this season.
