The Sixers continue to have their eye toward the future.

According to CSNNW.com's Chris Haynes, the Sixers have agreed to a deal with guard Pierre Jackson, who led the NBA Developmental League in scoring last season.

Jackson posted a photo regarding the deal on his Instagram account, with a caption reading "Official. Lost for words! Can't even begin to describe the feeling i have right now just knowing that I'm actually wanted to be a part of something that can be so special in the near future!!"

Jackson will join Joel Embiid and Dario Saric as Sixers who won't be able to contribute to the team right away. Jackson ruptured his right Achilles tendon in the Sixers' first game of the Orlando Pro Summer League and will likely miss the entire season.

This is Jackson's second stint as a Sixer, although the first one was rather short. He was drafted 42nd overall by the Sixers in the 2013 NBA draft, but was then was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in the draft-night deal that brought Nerlens Noel to Philadelphia. The Sixers traded the 47th overall pick, Russ Smith, to New Orleans to get Jackson back during this year's draft.

Prior to summer league action, Jackson was pumped to get a shot at impressing the Sixers' brass.

“I’m extremely excited. Last summer, I didn’t even really get to play [in the summer league], but now I get to play possibly in both of them,” Jackson said. “I’m excited to just go out there, play in the Orlando one and especially play at home. I get to play at home again. It’s going to be fun." (see full story)

For the NBADL's Idaho Stampede last year, Jackson averaged 29.1 points and 6.2 assists in 41.5 minutes per game. On Feb. 4, he set a D-League record when he put up 58 points against the Texas Legends. He played in 31 games for the Stampede before joining a team in Turkey.
