The agent for Ronald Roberts Jr. would not confirm a report that the forward has agreed to a partially-guaranteed contract with the Sixers.
Roberts' agent, Adam Pensack, said he "can't confirm anything at this point" regarding a report from Sportando.com that the former Saint Joseph's standout has reached a three-year deal to join the Sixers. Pensack added that he "will have news on Roberts in the next few weeks."
Roberts played on the Sixers' Orlando Pro Summer League team last month. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 10.0 points and 6.8 rebounds in 23.4 minutes per game. He grabbed 18 offensive boards in six contests and shot 64.1 percent from the field.
Roberts also played in the Las Vegas Summer League with the Miami Heat. He recorded 7.0 points and 3.8 rebounds in 14.0 minutes a night.
Roberts went undrafted after averaging 14.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game during his senior season on Hawk Hill.
Throughout the summer-league run, the Sixers' coaching staff commended Roberts on his high energy and being extremely coachable.
“A young player, playing hard, he’s working hard and he’s staying within his role, which is to run, to rebound, to go for offensive rebounds and to just be physical,” Sixers assistant coach Lloyd Pierce said during the team's minicamp prior to playing in Orlando.
“He’s been great. He’s a guy that the entire staff has liked. Didn’t know much about him coming into it other than he played at St. Joe’s and we had him in for a workout, but he’s been great.”
