Sixers Injury Update: Nerlens Noel (eye) out vs. Bulls

Share

Nerlens Noel will miss tonight's game against the Chicago Bulls after suffering a corneal abrasion on his left eye during the Sixers’ 96-76 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.

Noel had just two points and five rebounds in 18 minutes, although he did register a season-high four assists.

The Sixers have recalled forward Christian Wood from the Delaware 87ers, who will be available to play tonight.

Noel has struggled this month. While he's scoring 9.3 points per game, right around his career average, his rebounds are down to 6.6 per game from his season average of 7.8, and his free throw shooting has tumbled to 48.1 percent in December. He's also averaged 2.9 turnovers per contest, so it’s easy to see why Brett Brown has cut his minutes back to a season-low 26.0 once the calendar flipped from November.

Noel missed the season’s first meeting with Chicago with a sore wrist. The Sixers will miss his size against a Bulls frontline that features Pau Gasol, Joakim Noah, Taj Gibson, Nikola Mirotic and Doug McDermott.
