Dewayne Dedmon was smiling ear to ear at the end of the Sixers' shootaround. The rookie center was awarded a second 10-day contract by the Sixers on Thursday (see story).

"I was hoping it was going to happen, and when it happened I was like, 'Alright, I am doing the right things, so I just have to keep it up,'" Dedmon said. "I think I am a pretty good fit here, so if they keep giving me the opportunity, I want to show them why I should stay."

Dedmon has appeared in all five games since signing his first 10-day contract with the Sixers, shooting a combined 8 for 16 from the floor, grabbing 29 rebounds and blocking five shots while averaging 15 minutes per game.

"It really teaches you patience," Dedmon said of his continued uncertain future. "You have to wait and see all the time. You just have to keep doing what you are doing. You don't really hear what is going to happen. My agent takes care of that, but he says they obviously like what you've been doing."

When Dedmon's second 10-day contract expires, the Sixers will have to decide if they want to sign him to a contract for the remainder of the season of let him go.
