BOX SCORE

Charlotte does not turn the ball over often and gets back on defense.

That’s a dangerous combination for this Sixers team to face and it proved that way again in a 123-93 loss to the Bobcats at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night. The Sixers’ record fell to 16-59 with the defeat, while the Bobcats moved closer to .500 at 37-38.

The Bobcats now lead the season series 2-1 with the two teams meeting one more time on April 12.

The Sixers’ bench was outscored 60-33 in the game. Sixers starter James Anderson was held scoreless in 25 minutes.

Turning point
The Bobcats used a 9-0 run at the end of the first quarter to give them a 12-point lead after one.

They followed that by scoring 14 straight points at one time during the second quarter on their way to building a 27-point advantage that the Sixers would never even put a dent in throughout the rest of the game.

Follow the leader
Al Jefferson had 17 points and seven rebounds in the first half to help the Bobcats seize a 63-38 lead. Jefferson finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds while sitting out the entire fourth quarter.

Michael Carter-Williams led the Sixers with 22 points on 10 for 18 shooting in 27 minutes.

Henry Sims scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds. Thaddeus Young finished with 11 points and five rebounds.

Stat-egic
The Sixers were 48 of 120 from three-point range in their previous four games combined. They were a meager 4 of 17 from long range in Wednesday’s loss.

On the flip side, the Bobcats were 12 for 22 on three-pointers for a difference of 24 points from deep.

Take a bow
Former Episcopal Academy standout Gerald Henderson was a shining star in his hometown. Henderson made 5 of 7 field-goal attempts in the first half for 11 points. He was quiet in the second half, adding just three made free throws to finish with 14 points and four assists.

What’s next?
The Sixers play at Boston Friday night. The Celtics were last team the Sixers defeated on the road when Evan Turner dropped in a floater at the buzzer on Jan. 29.

The Celtics have dropped six straight games and are 1-11 in their last 12 with that lone win coming over the defending champion Miami Heat.

Boston struggles to score, averaging the fourth-fewest points per game in the league at 95.4 points. Jeff Green is their leading scorer with 16.7 points a night.

Rajon Rondo averages 9.5 assists per game but has only played in 26 games since returning from an ACL tear.
