BOX SCORE

NEW YORK -- While the Nets were looking to keep building momentum toward the playoffs on Tuesday night, the Sixers were merely attempting to even the season series and finish their year on the right note.

The Sixers didn’t even come close to accomplishing their goals, as they never found a rhythm in a 104-83 loss to the Nets.

Turning point
Nick Young hit a jump shot with 7:27 to go in the second quarter, trimming the Sixers’ deficit to 38-33.

Brooklyn proceeded to close out the first half on an 18-5 run that allowed the Nets to take a comfortable 18-point lead into halftime.

Follow the leader
Brook Lopez led all scorers with 29 points. He also grabbed 11 rebounds in just 26 minutes.

Deron Williams, who averaged 31 points in his previous two games, had a quiet 11 points. Joe Johnson had 11 points as well.

Nick Young led the Sixers with 18 points. Jrue Holiday scored 15 points on 5-for-10 shooting. Thaddeus Young scored 11.

Stat-egic
The Sixers were outrebounded 19-7 in the first quarter and outscored 11-1 on second-chance points.

Former Sixer Reggie Evans had a double-double in that quarter alone with 10 points and 10 rebounds. In 76 appearances this season, Evans has scored in double figures just eight times.

The Nets finished plus-33 (67-34) in the rebounding battle.

Take a bow
Evans came into Tuesday averaging 17.3 rebounds over his previous 11 games. He had 17 rebounds at the half against the Sixers before finishing with 24. It was his league-best ninth game with 20 or more rebounds this season

Evans also rolled past his season average of 4.5 points per game to score 17.

What’s next?
The Sixers return home to face the Hawks on Wednesday night.

They cruised to a 101-90 victory over the Hawks last Friday in Atlanta.
