Allen Iverson is just full of surprises.
The former Sixer on Thursday showed his support for an NFC East team in need of a big win on Sunday through his Twitter account. But it wasn't the Eagles:
Hope my cowboys win this weekend. We need it bad
— Allen Iverson (@alleniverson) December 19, 2013
With the Eagles and Cowboys neck and neck in the NFC East, Iverson decided that this was the best time to show his support for Dallas, which faces the Redskins (3-11) in Week 16. The Eagles, of course, will have to deal with the Chicago Bears (8-6).
Iverson, a native of Virginia, was drafted by the Sixers No. 1 overall in the 1996 draft and spent 11 seasons with the franchise until he was traded to Denver during the 2006-07 season. And while the Redskins would be the obvious choice for someone from his home state, Iverson opted for a less likely NFC East rival.
This is not, however, the first time that Iverson has shown his affinity for the Cowboys. He also wore a Cowboys hat during his second stint with the Sixers in 2010. He admitted to being a Cowboys fan, via Philly.com, since he was five years old. But, he also said that since coming to Philly, he also roots for the Eagles.
But it seems pretty clear which team A.I. will be pulling for to make the playoffs.
