Nick Young could return against Heat

Sixers guard Nick Young could be nearing a return to the court.

Out for the last seven games with a sprained ankle, the Sixers’ shooting guard is expected to return for Wednesday night’s game against the defending champion Miami Heat, according to coach Doug Collins.

Collins said the plan was for Young to practice on Tuesday at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and if all went well, the guard would be cleared to play on Wednesday.

Young is averaging 11.1 points per game and leads the team in free-throw percentage at 80.9. Without Young’s perimeter shooting over the last six games, the Sixers are 1-5 with five straight losses.

In the three games before he went on the shelf with the injury, Young scored just eight points on 2-for-16 shooting and took a goose egg in 17 minutes in a loss to the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 24.

Young is expected to be a free agent at the end of the season after signing a one-year deal with the Sixers last summer.
