President Obama, a resident of Chicago, was once a … Sixers fan?
According to Market Watch, via The700Level.com, Obama -- while on a fundraising tour out West -- paid a visit to the house of all-time great Magic Johnson. Obama revealed he was being shadowed on the trip by New Yorker editor David Remnick, who asked the president about the significance of meeting Johnson.
“First of all, understand that I was a 76ers fan,” Obama said.
The700Level presumes the president was likely once a 76ers fan because of Julius Erving, who had classic battles with Johnson and the Lakers in the late-70s, early-80s. Now, Obama is a noted Chicago Bulls fans.
Anyway, the news spread over Twitter and eventually found its way to devout Republican, Sixers big man Spencer Hawes.
