The Sixers are in no rush to pick a new head coach, but the team's search for Doug Collins' replacement seems to be picking up some steam.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, via Twitter, the Sixers have been granted permission and will interview Atlanta Hawks assistants Quin Snyder and Kenny Atkinson to fill their head coaching vacancy.
On Tuesday, ESPN's Chris Broussard reported that the Sixers were granted permission to interview Chicago Bulls assistants Ed Pinckney and Adrian Griffin. In addition, Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears reported the Sixers also received permission to interview Miami Heat assistant coach David Fizdale (see story).
Last week, sources told CSNPhilly.com's Dei Lynam that the Sixers also intend to interview Boston Celtics assistant coach Jay Larranaga for the job.
Snyder, 46, has ties to the Sixers. He was in charge of player development for the team from 2010-11. He took an assistant coaching position with the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2011-12 campaign before joining the Hawks' organization last season.
Atkinson, 46, just finished his first season as an assistant coach with the Hawks. He spent the previous four years as an assistant with the New York Knicks.
