The Sixers on Tuesday officially signed first-round picks Nerlens Noel and Michael Carter-Williams. The details of the deals were not disclosed by the team.
Noel was originally selected by the New Orleans Pelicans with the sixth overall pick in June's NBA draft but came over to the Sixers in the Jrue Holiday trade on draft night. Noel is coming off a torn ACL suffered during his first and only year at Kentucky. He still hopes to play by Christmas.
The 6-foot-11 center averaged 10.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.4 blocks per game with the Wildcats.
The Sixers selected Carter-Williams with the 11th overall pick. The 6-foot-6 point guard averaged 11.9 points, 7.3 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game during his sophomore season at Syracuse. In the NBA Summer League in July, MCW averaged 14 points, seven assists, four rebounds and two steals.
