The Sixers on Monday signed rookie free agent forward Brandon Davies.
Davies, a 6-foot-10, 240-pound power forward, played four years of college ball at BYU. He made headlines in March 2011 when he was suspended for the end of the 2011-12 season for breaking Brigham Young's honor code by having premarital sex with his girlfriend, which is banned at the Mormon school.
Davies played well at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament pre-draft NBA camp in April, averaging 20.7 points and 9.3 rebounds. He was named the tournament's MVP.
He also played for the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA Summer League and signed with the team on Sept. 5. He was waived on Oct. 21.
Davies was born in Philadelphia but played high school basketball for Provo High School in Utah.
He becomes the 15th player on the Sixers' roster, joining big men Lavoy Allen, Kwame Brown, Spencer Hawes, Arnett Moultrie (injured), Nerlens Noel (injured) and Daniel Orton.
