Iguodala addresses comments made to SI

After the Sixers' loss to the Raptors on Wednesday night, Andre Iguodala answered questions about comments made in this week's edition of Sports Illustrated, in which he pointedly characterized Philadelphia sports fans and said teammate Lou Williams "can't guard anybody."

In SI, Iguodala painted a colorful portrait of Philadelphia fans. (See story.)
"In Philly, it's not about who you are, it's about what you do for us," Iguodala told the magazine. "You could be the worst person in the world, but if you score a lot of points or win a championship, you can murder somebody."

Iguodala clarified the comment on Wednesday.

"I was serious, I think if you blow up a whole universe -- no I'm just kidding it was a figure of speech," Iguodala said. "People are going to take it either way, it's just the way the media works. Not you guys, but it seems to work like that sometimes."

Iguodala was then asked if he regretted using Williams as an example of an NBA player who is proficient on offense, but lacks defensive skills.

"I think I would rather use my teammates rather than somebody else, because I like that some guys score a lot, but don't play defense," Iguodala said. "I'd rather keep it that way. Using Lou, I was just using our best scorer. He is one of the best scorers I've seen and I've told him personally that he could be a great defender.

"I don't think he's a bad defender at all. Just using him as an example. I mean, I could use Jodie meeks, he's a great scorer. You know what I mean? Like I said, that's just something, you can take it however you want to."
