Jrue Holiday inbounded the ball to Spencer Hawes with 5.5 seconds left in regulation against Toronto. Holiday immediately took the ball back and proceeded to drive the left side of the lane for the game-tying lay-up with 1.1 remaining.
Holiday proved to be just heating up.
After a Raptors heave presented overtime, Holiday scored 12 points in the extra session to give the Sixers a 108-101 over the Raptors on Friday night. Holiday was the only Sixer to score in OT as he tied a career high with 33 points.
The Sixers trailed by 17 points at halftime but cut the deficit to just one heading into the fourth quarter. They are now 2-22 when trailing going into the final frame.
The Sixers record improved to 17-23 with the win. They are now 11-9 at the Wells Fargo Center.
Turning pointThe third quarter has been the Sixers Achilles heel on many nights this season. However, the Sixers found their groove during the third on this night.
They held the Raptors to 13 points and cut their once 17-point deficit to just one.
The Sixers connected on 72 percent of their shots and scored 29 points in the period, while the Raptors shot only 28 percent.
Follow the leaderHoliday had his 11th double-double of the season with 33 points and 14 assists. He shot 13 of 23 from the floor.
Holiday has scored 92 points and handed out 34 assists over the last three games.
Thaddeus Young was 13 for 19 from the floor for 27 points to go with his 13 rebounds as he also claimed his 11th double-double of the year.
Ed Davis had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Raptors. Terrence Ross came off the bench for Toronto to score 18 points as well. Former Villanova standout Kyle Lowery scored 11 points and dished out 11 assists.
Stat-egicToronto shoots 35 percent from behind the arc for the season. On Friday night, the Raptors nailed 11 of 25 from long range (44 percent).
The Sixers were only able to make 4 of 19 three-pointers.

The Raptors reserves outscored the Sixers second unit, 51-21. Two nights ago, the Raptors bench outscored the Bulls, 66-18.
Whats next?The Sixers play San Antonio on Monday at the Wells Fargo Center.
The Spurs lead their division with a record of 30-11. The Sixers were defeated by the Spurs in the final matchup of their eight-game road trip, 109-86. San Antonio won all four quarters that game with the big three of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili combining for 55 points. Duncan and Parker sat out the entire fourth quarter.
Spencer Hawes was the lone Sixers who had any gas in the tank that night. He scored 22 points on 10-for-13 shooting.
