Lou Williams is heading home.
The former Sixer and Atlanta-native tweeted that he has agreed to join his hometown Hawks. The deals and its terms, which have not yet been announced, cannot be made official until the end of the NBA's moratorium period on Wednesday, but ESPN's Brian Windhorst is reporting it is a multiyear contract.
Williams had a player option to return with the Sixers for one more year next season, but decided instead to explore free agency.

He tweeted last week, following the news that the Sixers had amnestied Elton Brand and signed shooting guard Nick Young -- whose statistics are strikingly similar to Williams' over the last three seasons -- that he would not be back with the team, as the front office had decided to move in a different direction.
A Sixer since 2005 when he was drafted in the second round straight from high school, the 25-year-old guard spent his first seven NBA seasons in Philadelphia. He finished second in the voting for Sixth Man of the Year last season, when he averaged a career-best 14.9 points in 26.3 minutes per game.
