Sixers Performance Review: Jrue Holiday

Note: Over the next couple of weeks we will recap the Sixers' season by evaluating each member of the roster.

Jrue Holiday
Position: Point Guard
Status: Under Contract 2012-13
Signature game of 2012
Forcing a game seven against the Celtics was possible in large part because of Holiday's play. The third-year point guard was crafty and assertive in getting to the rim, leading the Sixers in scoring with 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting and going 6-for-6 from the foul line. He also had six assists.

Holiday in 2011-12
Holiday shot 41 percent from the floor and nearly 41 percent from behind the arc in the postseason. He led the team in scoring and assists with 16 points and five dimes per game during the playoffs.

In college Holiday was asked to move to the shooting guard position because Darren Collison stayed a year longer then anticipated. This past year Holiday again was asked to think score before pass when Spencer Hawes was sidelined for 29 games with an Achilles injury, leaving a gaping hole at the offensive end.

Doug Collins said repeatedly that Holiday may have been most hurt by a lack of practice time this past season. That said, he stands to take the greatest strides next season given some guidance this off-season.
Glimpse into the future
Many wonder if down the road Holiday, who is 6-4, will become the shooting guard and Evan Turner, who is 6-7, will become the point guard. The two will be the back court of the franchise's future but Holiday is a point guard who shoots the ball well.

Holiday, while he will spend the summer mostly in California, said he plans on checking in at the Sixers practice facility from time to time and his goal this off-season is to get a little stronger and cut down on turnovers despite averaging just 2.08 last year.

On Jrue Holiday
If there is one area he could help the team more, it would be to get to the foul line more. He played in 65 games and shot just 120 free throws.
