Good for Sixers: Jabari Parker could be favored at No. 1 overall over Andrew Wiggins by more NBA execs

As our resident NBA junkie Andrew Unterberger said on Twitter, the results of a poll of NBA execs placing Duke's Jabari Parker as the top vote getter to be the No. 1 overall pick would be great for Sixers fans who desperately want to see Andrew Wiggins in Philadelphia next season. If you believe it, that is.

You obviously have to take these polls of NBA execs with a grain of salt or two. What reason do they have to give a truly honest answer? Misdirection is often the name of the game on draft day.

But the results are the results. Lots of people like Jabari Parker and any amount of indecision at the top of the draft could help the Sixers:

ESPN's Jeff Goodman writes ($):

However, in an ESPN poll of 30 NBA executives, it was Duke's Jabari Parker who racked up more votes than both Wiggins and Embiid.

Wiggins entered the season as the consensus favorite to be the first to shake new commissioner Adam Silver's hand on June 26 at the NBA draft.

Early on I cautioned those who already had anointed Wiggins, the ultra-athletic Canadian, as the top overall pick. It didn't take long for people to realize that Parker, the Blue Devils' skilled forward, also was in the equation for the top spot. Then a third freshman, the 7-foot Embiid, thrust himself into the mix.

As we've documented many times, the Sixers have the second-most balls in the draft lottery that takes place on Tuesday, May 20th. That will be one nerve-wracking day in Philadelphia.
