You've likely heard the tale of local high schooler Kevin Grow who had the amazing opportunity to sign a two-day contract with the Sixers and tag along with the team for a whole bunch of events. The young baller's run was capped off this evening with a chance to hang with the Sixers' players in the locker room and get intro'd before the just-a-shade-under a sellout crowd at the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia for the ugly loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
They put together a great recap of Kevin's big day on Comcast SportsNite this evening which you can watch above. Aside from Kevin's obvious joy at the totally awesome experience, one of the moments I loved most was when Evan Turner is sitting by his locker and seemingly comments on an old teammate, Andrew Bynum.
Kevin was given a No. 33 Sixers' jersey with "Grow" on the back for the night.
"We had a guy last year who was No. 33 and he never wore it, so it's all yours," Evan Turner joked.
And in a truly awesome Philly moment when the Sixers were getting totally destroyed by the Cavs late in the 4th quarter, the faithful fans remaining at the Wells Fargo Center started chanting for Brett Brown to put Grow into the game.
Hey, it couldn't have hurt.
