It was a gorgeous day for some football in West Philadelphia on Sunday as tens of thousands of fans packed historic Franklin Field to watch the Eagles return to their former home for the first time in decades.
The crowd was filled with fans old and new yesterday with some getting one more glimpse of Eagles legends Chuck Bednarik, Tommy McDonald, and Pete Retzlaff in the Birds' former home one more time while many of the kids and twenty-somethings in attendance learned the storied history of the venue for the first time.
While the venue may be well over a century old, the action on the field was Chip Kelly's modern take. The fast paced practice was highlighted by loud music, quick countdown clocks, and seemingly more doing than talking. The players and coaches on the field appeared well orchestrated with every sound of the horn even if those of us in the stands wondered what exactly was going on half the time.
Photographer Tug Haines was on the field to capture some of the cooler moments from the very unique day. Check out some of our favorites below or click here for the full 40 photo gallery.
