Speculation is heating up over whether Anthony Bennett is heading to Philadelphia after all.
Despite the many rumors that the 2013 No. 1 pick would be traded to the Sixers for Thaddeus Young once the anticipated Kevin Love-for-Andrew Wiggins trade is made official, that appears to no longer be the case.
According to numerous reports on Twitter, including Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune and Darren Wolfson of ESPN, Bennett will be staying in Minnesota. But that doesn't mean the Sixers won't be getting other players in return for Young.
Just a reminder: if you keep reading Bennett is headed to Philly for Young in forthcoming trade...don't believe it.— Jerry Zgoda (@JerryZgoda) August 20, 2014
Told it's highly unlikely Shabazz will go to Philly. Hinkie will have to take Shved/Moute/Miami pick if he wants to move Thad. #twolves— Darren Wolfson (@DarrenWolfson) August 21, 2014
I will add that the league-wide belief is that Thad will be a Wolf. Just not with Shabazz involved. #twolves— Darren Wolfson (@DarrenWolfson) August 21, 2014
Bennett is coming off a disappointing rookie season in which he averaged just 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds for the Cavaliers. Young meanwhile, averaged a career best 17.9 points in his seventh year with the Sixers.
Luc Mbah a Moute and Alexey Schved, the two players mentioned by Woflson, combined for just seven starts last season.
