Chip Kelly: Greg Hardy issues go ‘way beyond' team culture

After Deadspin published photos and detailed descriptions from the incident in which Greg Hardy left his then girlfriend badly bruised, the Dallas Cowboys defensive end has once again been the center of the sports media’s attention.

The Eagles went out and beat the Cowboys on Sunday night and a number of players spoke strongly about Hardy following the game.

Center Jason Kelce didn’t mince words, putting Hardy in the lowest class of human and questioning his place in the league.

“I definitely if I had my opportunities I was going to try and give him a little something extra,” Kelce told Mark Farzetta of 94 WIP after the game.

“I am usually quiet and I don’t try to speak ill of anybody else but there are three people that I don’t really have respect for: people that hit women, rapists, and child molestors,” Kelce continued. “Those crimes to me just stick out as you’re taking advantage of somebody who is defenseless pretty much. I can’t get behind that and it’s pretty odd to me that somebody can play that quickly, obviously with all of the evidence coming out now, whether he should play at all. It’s a really bad situation for the NFL.”

After Kelce’s comments on Sunday night, the Philadelphia media was obviously extra interested in the story on Monday morning.

Eagles head coach Chip Kelly was a guest on 94 WIP this morning and host Angelo Cataldi asked him about being aware of Hardy’s baggage prior to Sunday night's game.

“I think everyone was cognizant of it after those pictures came out,” Kelly said.

Cataldi then asked about Hardy and whether he’d fit in Philly’s culture.

“I don’t think that has anything to do with culture, to be honest with you. It’s bigger than that. It’s got nothing to do with culture and putting a team together. It’s way beyond that.”

Hardy reportedly left AT&T Stadium on Sunday night without talking to the media.
