Chip Kelly won't start Sanchez despite New York media wishes

Back before the season started, Chip Kelly had no problem having some fun with the opposing team's media during their weekly conference call. You may recall him telling the Atlanta Falcons' media that the goal of his uptempo offense is "to get the game over quicker."

Many people, myself among them, figured this jovial and somewhat wiseacre version of Chip was front and center because the Birds had a clean record at 0-0 in 2015. I openly hoped the Eagles would get off to a winning season so that this fun version of Chip would stick around all season long.

Turns out, losing hasn't made Chip's fun-yet-somewhat-surly exchanges with the opposing media disappear entirely.

And now we bring you the most recent exchange, in which Kelly was asked by the New York Jets media about the chances of Mark Sanchez starting/playing this week, courtesy of New York Daily News writer Seth Walder.

Reporter: "Did you give any thought to starting Mark Sanchez this week?"

Chip: "No."

...

Reporter: "Why no thought of starting Sanchez this week?"

Chip: "Excuse me? Because Sam Bradford is our starting quarterback."

Reporter: "Any chance Sanchez could play?"

Chip: "What are you Mark's agent?"

This, of course, led to plenty of snark from Philly Twitter.

Sam Bradford is the Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback this week against the Jets, no matter how many times you want to ask him about it.

Anyway, the moral of the story seems to be that while the Eagles may not be entertaining us all season long if they continue their losing ways, at least maybe Chip will.

Not exactly something we're hoping for, however.
