Eagles fans, for whatever reason, seem absolutely in love with the idea of the team switching back to their old school Kelly Green jerseys.
Team president Don Smolenski was a guest on 94 WIP this morning and said the team has discussed a switch to Kelly Green but added it's a complicated situation due to NFL rules.
“We have talked about it and there is some rules with the NFL that provides some restrictions that we’re trying to work through, but that’s going to take some time,” Smolenski said. “It’s there, and it’s something that we do talk about, but until some things change at the NFL level it’s going to provide restrictions for us. It is being talked about it, yes.”
This got fans excited. Even if they were simply talking about it, a switch back to Kelly Green would be a huge deal for Philadelphia fans.
But not so fast.
The Eagles later clarified that they weren't considering a permanent switch from Midnight Green to the Kelly Green variety, but rather simply using the latter as an alternate. Via NJ.com, "The Eagles have clarified that they are considering adding a Kelly green jersey as an alternate jersey, not as a permanent switch from Midnight green."
So get excited if you're into awesome alternates but don't get your hopes up about a permanent switch.
