Jah Lives! Watch Okafor hit his first five shots against Wizards

One of the moments Philadelphia 76ers fans have been waiting for finally took place on Tuesday night. Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel shared the court and gave fans a glimpse of a dynamic duo the organization hopes can turn into the cornerstone of the franchise for years to come.

Okafor showed off his offensive prowess early, hitting his first five shots in the Sixers' first preseason game against the Washington Wizards.

Getting his feet wet wasn't all sunshine and friendly rims for the Sixers' top pick, he quickly learned that there's no sleeping in the NBA and that you've got to be totally engaged for 48 minutes, as CSNPhilly.com's John Finger wrote.

“I got comfortable within the offense and we played pretty well, but at halftime we got stagnant,” Okafor said. “Before we knew we were down by double digits. We can compete at a high level when we’re all focused and engaged, but we’re a young team and it was a learning experience.”

Most Sixers fans don't care about wins and losses at this point in the teams rebuild, but do have incredible interest in the development of Okafor, Noel, and any other player who might be around when the team finally turns the corner from rebuild to actual competitor, whenever that day may be.

The learning process for the two big men began last night in Washington and will continue for, likely, years to come. Day 1 was a promising start.
