Joel Embiid was expecting Cleveland or Milwaukee. He got Philadelphia.
The Sixers' new big man passed through Philly over the weekend for the first time since being selected by Sam Hinkie at No. 3 overall in the 2014 NBA Draft. He attempted to ingratiate himself with the locals by enjoying his first Pat's cheesesteak.
"I wasn't expecting the city to be like that," Embiid told CSN's Dei Lynam. "I was surprised and I loved it. I thought it was going to be something like Cleveland or Milwaukee but it was actually way better. I loved it."
He also shared that he stopped at Mitchell & Ness and stocked up on a ton of old school basketball jerseys ranging from Sixers greats like Allen Iverson and Julius Erving to NBA big men greats like Hakeem and Wilt.
Embiid also touched on some of his Twitter courting antics and said if he had to choose between playing with LeBron or Rihanna, he'd go with King James.
