Joel Embiid's Qatar adventure: Rehab and watching tennis

Share

Injured Sixers center Joel Embiid is hitting the court in Qatar.

The tennis court, that is, to take in a little women's WTA action while he rehabs his foot.

While working out at Aspetar, a rehab facility in the small peninsular state of Qatar, the man who has yet to play in an NBA game attended the Qatar Total Open,  a WTA tournament that features seven of the top 10 women's tennis players in the world.

Because what else is there to do in Qatar?

Embiid appeared on the Qatar Tennis Federation's Twitter account, saying that he was attending yesterday's quarterfinal matches. The account tagged the Sixers' Twitter account but used the hashtag "#NOEL," which, of course, is a misspelling of the center's first name. Or maybe the the Qatar Tennis Federation's social media guy is a big Nerlens Noel fan and got the Sixers' big men confused. Who knows?

The 2014 No. 3 pick's presence didn't even make the biggest headlines at the tournament. A cat made its way onto the court in the round of 16, delaying the matches for a small amount of time while going viral.

Anyway, here's Embiid's Twitter cameo:
