With a 6-2 loss, the Philadelphia Phillies were swept out of the western half of PA by the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. The Fightins don’t get to come home and lick their wounds just yet, either. Instead, they head straight to Milwaukee for a four-game series against the Brewers, owners of the best record in the National League.

Now, before you leave thinking things are only going to get worse for the Phils before they get better, there’s actually good news and bad news.

The good news is this team can hardly sink much lower. The bad news is there's a lot more losing ahead for the Phillies, and as several Philly sportswriters Tweeted on Sunday, the numbers increasingly point to a memorably awful finish for this once-proud franchise.

Hm. Come to think of it, I think that all qualifies as bad news. Regardless, here were our “favorite” Tweets of the bunch, for lack of a better word, or put another way, the transmissions that best encapsulate what has happened to the Phillies.
