After Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reported on a Kevin Love-for-Andrew Wiggins deal that didn't involve the Philadelphia 76ers, hoop heads in Philly began to think maybe we'd have Thaddeus Young in town for a few more months. But according to new reports today, Thad for Anthony Bennett is back on.
A source informed the Daily News that the Sixers will be sending veteran forward Thaddeus Young to Minnesota for a package that will include Bennett, the No. 1 pick in the 2013 NBA draft.
Cooney goes on to state that the Timberwolves could even include the No. 1 pick they will receive from Cleveland in the deal for Young. The specifics do not appear set in stone yet.
Just yesterday, John Gonzalez wrote on CSNPhilly.com that Bennett alone would be enough of a return for the Sixers to pull the trigger on dealing Thad because if you hold onto him into the season, you won't get anything better in return. So if Hinkie could pull a Bennett plus a pick for Thad, it would be a pretty nice haul.
While Sixers fans know and love Thad's game, Minnesota seems to believe he can come in and fill the big shoes of Kevin Love. That seems like a bit of a stretch to longtime Thad watchers.
Meanwhile, the Love addition in Cleveland makes the Cavaliers the instant favorite to come out of the East.
No trade involving Andrew Wiggins can be complete for a couple of weeks due to NBA rules about trading a rookie who just signed a contract, so we'll likely hear seven to 10 more iterations of this trade deal before something actually becomes official.
