A lot of people starved for meaningful baseball made the trip up to Lamade Stadium in South Williamsport last night. And almost 400 members of the press were there to tell the story to everyone who didn't make the trip. I lost count of the Mid-Atlantic, Taney, and Phillies hats and shirts worn by fans in attendance. And except for The Wave making a few passes during a stop in game action, fans were rapt with attention, and those who couldn't get close enough to the live action found the televisions on the concourse to gather around. Mo'ne Davis remained stoic during her 2.1 innings on the mound and though she gave up three runs on six hits, she still rang up 6 K's, and she remains eligible to pitch again on Saturday. For as much buzz as there was surrounding the game, it was a laid-back atmosphere of people enjoying the game and the company of other baseball fans.
