Thursday's NFL coaching rumor tracker: McAdoo hire official

It's been a busy Thursday.

It looked like Tom Coughlin was going to be the Eagles' next head coach, then he pulled his name out of the running.

Now, the Eagles' coaching search is focused on Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson, according to a report (see story)

And, oh yeah, Chip Kelly has a new job. The former Eagles head coach was hired by the 49ers (see story)

That's not all though. Here's a look around the rest of the coaching craziness from the NFL:

• The Giants officially hired Ben McAdoo on Thursday afternoon. He takes over for Coughlin, who "resigned" last week. There are just three NFL head coaching jobs open: Eagles, Titans, Bucs.

The Eagles had previously interviewed McAdoo for their opening.

"Ben has been preparing for this opportunity since he started coaching, and he has earned his stripes every step of the way," Giants president John Mara said. "Some have suggested he may not be ready, and as I said last week, we want a coach who feels like he has something to prove."

• Hue Jackson became the Browns head coach on Wednesday, which means he can start filling out his staff.

According to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot, Leslie Frazier is under consideration for the defensive coordinator job. That's significant because Frazier hails from the Andy Reid Coaching Tree.

Frazier, before eventually becoming a head coach in Minnesota, was the Eagles' defensive backs coach in 1999, when Pederson was the quarterback.
